FUND “Laza Kostic” CONTINUES THE CELEBRATION OF CENTENARY LAZA KOSTIC Shakespeare in Serbian at THE GLOBE THEATRE for the Olympics 2012th After four exciting days packed with events and new information, the three winners of the Fund “Laza Kostic” returned from their first visit to London.

Jevdjenije Julijan Dimitrijević from Cacak, Dusica Aksentijevic from Jagodina and the youngest 12 years old Danica Kostadinovic from Nis, had the opportunity to see the play “Phantom of the Opera” by Julian Lloyd Webber, visit the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Madame Tussauds, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Hyde Park, Imperial College, Museum of old instruments at the Royal College of Music, even to hear the concert No.2  by Sergei Rachmaninoff at the Albert Hall, performed by John Lill, the legendary British pianist.

According to Marina Milic-Apostolovic, the founder and artistic director of the fund: “Our goal was not only to show London to these young people, it’s culture and tradition, but to present them than with prominent Serbs who had lived and left their mark in the British capital, as well. We visited the memorial plaque Dositej Obradovic, placed at the site where our first Minister of Education spent six months studying and writing about the Englishmen; memorial plaque Slobodan Jovanovic at Kensington, as well as the place where Milos Crnjanski lived for 13 years.

As this year’s winners were all outstanding young people, educated, well-read and eager to learn, we have prepared them articles about these great men and their stay in London. Perhaps surprisingly, they met with Crnjanski here in the UK. The youngest, Danica Kostadinovic, whom we gave BIGZ’s pocketbook on Milan Crnjanski, showed the interest in his biography in which he spoke of his mother and father and wished to continue introduction with the writer, at home.
The two older winners have expressed a desire to read “A novel about London,” for which we are very pleased. Of course, we took special time to visit the Shakespeare Theatre GLOB, where,7 years ago, Fund “Laza Kostic” set the gold brick on “wall of support” by enrolling in the name of the fund and Laza Kostic who, over 50 years, dealt with translation, writing, teaching and the introduction of Shakespeare in our country.

In Unicef’s year dedicated to youth, the Fund has provided an opportunity for talented Tamara Popov, a graduate cameraman at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade, who won numerous awards for her film achievements, by entrusting her to make reports about the first prize trip to London.
